A "crack-huffed continuation" to the Dead Air short story.
A review from a tired woman scientist:
It was genuinely scary when those mercs pointed their rifles at me and then roughly knocked me to the ground to bind, blindfold, and gag me with duct tape. But after they threw me into their car, drove me to their hideout, and strapped me to a chair with even more tape, it was... honestly pretty bearable.
On the first day, the guard assigned to me got bored pretty quickly, so he took off my shoes and put his headphones over my ears, forcing me to listen to constant static. I didn't mind at all - in fact, I loved it! I could finally zone out and take a real break from my exhausting lab work. My feet also got a nice rest from those uncomfortable shoes, even though the concrete floor was a bit chilly.
The next day, one of them tied a cloth soaked in some cologne over my nose. The smell was actually quite pleasant, to be honest. Although, it was pretty potent, I almost sneezed a few times. Well, leaving aside the teasing, these guys actually fed me regularly, gave me water, and took me to the bathroom! And I slept on a thick, soft mattress! So considerate.
They also weren't overly strict about my escape attempts. When I managed to make some progress in getting free (managed to get off the chair, but with still bound arms), they even let me walk around a little under supervision before tying me up again. Too bad it only lasted 5 days - then they released me. The whole kidnapping caused quite a stir at my company, so they ended up trading some secrets to the mercs' employers... oops. I genuinely wish I could have stayed on this "vacation" - I mean, in captivity - just a few days longer.
The only real downside was probably the lack of, let's say, "physical interaction with the captive". It did get a little boring just sitting there tied up, you know?
Still - solid 8/10 for the care provided.
xoxo to the guys from the ▒▒▒▒▒▒ PMC - I totally recommend their services!
